Ocean Kayaking

A short walk from the Sheraton, explore the birthplace of Kamehameha the Great (Keauhou Bay) and head south along the cliffs toward Kuamoo Bay. Be on the look out for dolphins, manta rays and turtles. The sea caves catch ocean swells that make this a highlight of the adventure. The next stop allows ample time to snorkel the reefs. Then climb up to a vantage point above the cove to enjoy refreshments. From this vantage point above the cove, many are tempted to jump into the cool, clear waters 12-25 feet below! The water is deep and safe enough to meet the temptation. Head off shore once again to hopefully ride the trade winds home. Wear swim suits. Bring sunscreen, hat and a cover up.
Minimum 6/Maximum 12 persons.
Included: kayak rental, guide, towel, snorkel equipment, gratuities and taxes
Cost: $92
Day: Monday 7/5 & Friday 7/9
Tour Departs: 8:15
Tour Returns: 12:00

Painted Church and City of Refuge Tour

Overlooking beautiful and historic Kealakekua Bay, St. Benedict's Painted Church is a fascinating place to visit on your journey to the Big Island of Hawaii. This present church was erected in 1899 by Father John Velghe. Without any professional training and using house paint on ordinary wood he beautified the church with his paintings. In those days few Hawaiians could read and so he taught with pictures-most successfully. St. Benedict's Church, with its unique art work, is listed in the Hawaii State Register of Historic places and the National Register of Historic Places. Next visit Pu'uhonuao Honaunau National Historical Park (Place of Refuge). Step back in time to a sanctuary of Hawaii’s past where traditional Hawaiian lifestyle is preserved. Ancient temples and ki’i (wooden images) whisper stories from the past. The history of old Hawaii comes alive at Pu'uhonua o Honaunau. Walk along the ocean, past Keone’ele Cove where once only ali'i (chiefs) were allowed to go. Imagine the Kapu breakers fleeing their pursuers as they swim across the bay to the safety of the pu'uhonua. Marvel at the engineering accomplishments of the Hawaiians as you pass along the great wall and heiau. The people and places here have left many untold stories. Today, the park continues as a sanctuary for visitors seeking a peaceful place and as a safe haven for all of the native wildlife living here.
Minimum 30/Maximum 50 persons

Cost: $82
