SpaceShipOne

Bob Wardmiller |
This presentation explores the concepts envisioned by Burt Rutan nearly a decade before SpaceShipOne won the $10 million Ansari X-Prize in 2004. The technical challenges were enormous but not insurmountable given enough time to solve them. However, official announcement of the X-Prize meant there would be competition. The pressure was on to be first. Burt Rutan and his team at Scaled Composites pulled it off; producing the first two civilian astronauts and winning the X-Prize in the process, a remarkable achievement. Day:Friday Time:1:00 |
